The Green Spa Network Announces New Assessment Tool for Resource Partners

Green Spa NetworkThe Green Spa Network has expanded its popular Sustainability Assessment Tool (SAT) to better serve companies that supply products and services to spas.

“Building on the success of the SAT for Spas, we’ve added new questions that more effectively address sustainability issues relative to packaging, manufacturing, equipment, and corporate social responsibility” says GSN Executive Director, Paul Schmidt. “These are things our membership has asked for and to see this important tool grow to better support the supply side of the industry is encouraging.”

Already, the SAT has helped over 130 individuals evaluate their spa sustainability practices and identify priorities to address for improvement. With this update, GSN is reaching the industry in a more comprehensive way as part of its mission to cause positive change through promoting the vital connections between personal well-being, economic sustainability and the health of our planet.

The Green Spa Network provides free tools like the SAT and Greening Toolkit to support any business in bringing focus and improved traction to their sustainability efforts. Accessible on the GSN website (www.greenspanetwork.org), the 170 question survey engages business owners and managers in a top to bottom review of key business factors related to sustainability. One of the important principles in successful sustainability programs is shifting one’s traditional thinking and the process of answering the questions in the SAT helps to reframe a business’ perspective and inspire actions that make the biggest difference.

The SAT also helps to address the inherent challenges in measuring and reporting meaningful data towards sustainability performance improvement. Any organization can complete the sections that are relevant to their scope of interest and receives a report that identifies strengths and weaknesses and offers a baseline to compare progress over time.
